Brand new to the spirits industry, Kjersten Merila is already shaking things up…over ice. Vodka’s the game, Her Spirit’s the name. Kjersten, Owner and Co-founder of Her Spirit, believes the achievement of starting her own company and working on Her Spirit is incredible, but is outweighed by the rewarding feeling of contributing. 50% of the profits from Her Spirit will be invested into female entrepreneurs. Kjersten’s goal was to create something bigger than herself and have fun doing it. When she’s not out creating a buzz for Her Spirit, she works full time in the Healthcare industry, spends time with her rescue pup, and works with her husband on how to take the Her Spirit brand to the next level. Vodka will be released in the fall of 2017!
Each week, Her Spirit launches two podcasts called 'It's All About Her'. Not only is there a check in with Kjersten, these podcasts also highlight inspiring women entrepreneurs who share their story with all of us. Below, you get small glimpse into this week's fierce female!

Meet Katie Steller, Owner of Steller Hair Company (A 7 chair, 12 person, hair salon located in NE Minneapolis).
Steller Hair Company was started in June of 2013, and has grown at a fantastically alarming rate. Katie decided to open her own business when she had the realization that she could sit and complain about the things she didn't like about the hair industry OR she could do what was within her capability to change her experience and lead by example.
At age 21 (and 3 year’s experience as a stylist and educator), Katie started the process of opening Steller Hair. She quickly realized that it wasn't as simple as slapping a name on the door and doing hair. Katie partnered with Women Venture (a nonprofit that helps new entrepreneurs have a well-rounded support and understanding on the ins-and-outs of running business), and after 2 years of setbacks, heartbreaks, and disappointments, Steller opened its doors.
Pushing through adversity, painful situations, discouragement and doubt. These are not new to Katie. The drive, persistence and determination she embodies comes from years of struggling through chronic health issues, and general shit that life throws at you. It is never wrong to do the right thing, and the right thing is usually hard.
Steller Hair Company exists to create an experience for its employees, clients and community that encourages people to come as they are, because who they are is enough (and also to do some really badass hair!).
